From 2009-11, Howie served as color analyst on selected radio broadcasts of the Lowell Spinners, a Single-A team in the New York-Penn League.
The broadcasts were heard on WCAP (980 AM) or via a live stream at www.980wcap.com.
Howie usually worked with veteran play-by-play broadcaster Ken Cail.
A full-time sportswriter from 1980-1997, Howie covered two World Series, five NBA Finals and four Stanley Cup finals.
He has written for the Boston Globe, Patriot Ledger, Associated Press, Lowell Sun and Lynn Item. While with the Sun, he covered the Spinners' inaugural season in Lowell.
Howie has recorded two CDs of baseball songs and performs his Musical Baseball Show at venues throughout the New England area.
